                                                                                                                     The United States of America (USA), commonly referred to as the United States (U.S.) or America, is a federal republic^[18][19] consisting of 50 states and a federal district. The 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C., are in central North America，簡稱美國，是由50個邦和華盛頓哥倫比亞特區組成的聯邦共和立憲制國家。華人習慣稱呼這些邦為(州)，但古代中國的"州"只是國土分劃的行政區，並非組成聯邦的各邦實質上擁有內政的相當自主權，當然不能像各邦能擁有處理邦內司法的最高法院。
